The envelope, addressed in Emily's neat handwriting, lay on the coffee table. Inside, a single card, announcing her move to Florida. Mark blinked, feeling a strange pressure in his ears, like he was ascending to a great height. He sat heavily on the couch, the card trembling in his hand.

He recalled their adventures, the shared jokes, the inside references only they understood. It all seemed to flicker before his eyes, a memory reel on fast forward. He felt a profound disorientation, a sense that the world had subtly changed.
