Gemotions

"This isn't happening," David muttered. He'd been in a bookstore looking for a gift when he saw it. "David's Dance," it was called, the cover showing him standing in front of his old dance studio. He stared at the cover for a long time, frozen, unable to decide if the world was real or not.

He picked it up, his fingers numb. The book described his passion for dance, the struggles, the triumphs. It was all there. Except it wasn't *his*. The narrative felt contrived. He felt his face flush. He needed to get away, to find somewhere he could be alone with the feeling of unreality.

He stumbled out of the store, the book clutched tightly in his hand, feeling vulnerable and deeply violated.
