The air in the break room felt stale, the coffee bitter. As Michael watched the new hire, he was tasked to teach everything he knew, and a knot twisted in his gut. The whole thing seemed… peculiar. A situation that he couldn't quite wrap his head around.

He took a deep breath, trying to collect himself. He walked back to his desk, and tried to explain how the system worked, the procedures he knew so well, but it was all jumbled. It was as if he was watching himself, but was not in control.

He felt a deep sense of wrongness, as though the world had shifted on its axis. He couldn’t quite place it, but the feeling was undeniable.
