"He said he was going to be working late," Emily said, her voice catching slightly. She sat across from…well, from *her*. The other woman was elegant, poised, with eyes that held a knowing glint.

The woman across from her had just revealed that she, too, was in a relationship with John. John. Emily felt her chest tighten. She thought she'd found love, but she was now drowning in the depths of confusion.

The room began to spin. She struggled to gather her thoughts, to make sense of the sudden, devastating revelation. The air grew still, heavy with unspoken accusations and the raw ache of betrayal.
