Gemotions

The drive to the house had been silent, tense. Now, standing on the overgrown lawn, Emily felt a strange sense of unreality. Her brother, Ben, was striding ahead, already examining the roof. She hesitated.

Inside, the house was a labyrinth of shadows and secrets. Each room seemed to hold its breath. She felt as if she had stepped into a dream.

She found herself in her grandmother's bedroom, staring at the bed, still made, as though she had just stepped out of it. She couldn't breathe.

Ben called her from the living room. "Come see this," he said. She wanted to scream. She had no idea where to start.
