Gemotions

“Well, this is it,” said Jessica, her voice flat. Her brother, David, was already inside, examining the plumbing in the bathroom. She didn't share his enthusiasm.

The house seemed to exhale as she walked in. The walls were lined with photographs. She didn't recognize any of the people. It was all a mystery.

She wandered into the kitchen. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She felt dizzy, like she was going to faint.

David was calling her, asking her to help him move a cabinet. She stood frozen in place, her legs like lead. She felt as though she was suspended in time.
