Clara saw it on a billboard – a massive advertisement for "Aunt Mildred's Apple Pie," now available at every supermarket. Her breath hitched. That was her aunt's recipe, the one that had won the county fair three years running. A wave of dizziness washed over her.

She pulled the car over to the side of the road. Her hands were shaking as she clutched the steering wheel. The vibrant colors of the billboard swam before her eyes. It was a perfect replica of the pie. The same lattice crust, the same tart apples, the same spices.

A strange buzzing filled her ears. She felt disoriented, like she had stepped into a parallel universe. She stared, dumbfounded, at the grinning picture of "Aunt Mildred," a woman she had never encountered.
