Gemotions

The news hit David with the force of a tidal wave. He had spent his life believing in one story, and now he was presented with another. He sat at the kitchen table, the laptop open, the words on the screen blurring. His breath came in shallow, uneven gasps.

He rubbed his temples, a headache blooming behind his eyes. He got up and began to pace. The room, familiar just moments before, now seemed unfamiliar, alien. His reflection in the window appeared distorted, a stranger staring back at him. He felt as though the ground beneath him had dissolved.

He reached for the phone, his fingers clumsy, unsure.
