The office building, usually a place of routine, seemed to blur around Sarah. She’d checked her results on her lunch break, expecting nothing significant. The results, however, had left her reeling. The email’s subject line flashed in her memory. “New matches!” New matches that upended her whole life.

She needed air, and left the building. The sun was suddenly blinding. She walked aimlessly down the street, the familiar city a maze she couldn't navigate. She felt detached, as if her body and mind were running on separate tracks. She leaned against a brick wall, feeling faint.

A new version of her life was unfolding before her, and she was utterly unprepared.
