The demolition crew had already started, the sound of metal against brick echoing through the neighborhood. Karen stood across the street, watching. The house, her childhood home, was being torn to shreds. She felt… off-kilter.

She clenched and unclenched her fists, a nervous habit she hadn’t indulged in since she was a child. The house held so many memories. She wondered how she would deal.
