Gemotions

The photo album felt heavier than usual. She pointed at the picture, a snapshot of them, laughing, their arms around each other. "Remember this?" she asked, her voice trembling.

He looked at the image, then back at her, his expression a mask. "No," he said flatly. "I don't."

Her throat closed. The air in the room seemed to thicken, making it difficult to breathe. She felt a cold wave wash over her, leaving her chilled to the bone. She wanted to scream.

She clutched the album to her chest, the familiar weight of it offering no comfort.
