Gemotions

The familiar scent of cinnamon and old wood in the bakery didn't bring comfort, as he had hoped. He walked forward to her, his heart in his throat. He had so much to say.

"Excuse me, I think there's been a mistake." Her voice was kind, but distant. She stared at him, tilting her head slightly, as if trying to place him. But there was nothing. The boy she knew was gone.

He felt a deep plunge of coldness in his chest. A sudden, sharp pain flared in his temples. He was just a stranger. And she was a stranger too.
