Gemotions

The lawyer had delivered the letter, a stiff, formal man. Now, in the stillness of his study, Arthur held the paper. It was from his brother, a brother he hadn’t spoken to since the day he left. A wave of unease rippled through him, the quiet of the room suddenly oppressive.

He found himself pacing the room, the letter clutched in his hand. The words seemed to blur, to shift and change meaning with each pass of his gaze. He felt a sudden tightness in his chest, a sensation he hadn’t felt in years. He stopped by the fireplace, stared into the cold grate.

"After all this time," he said, his voice a low growl. He didn't know what it meant, the return of his brother, and the past. He didn't know where to start.
