"What the hell?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. Her stomach lurched, a cold, sickening wave. The tree, the magnificent cherry blossom, was gone. Just a muddy patch of disturbed earth and broken branches. She had envisioned the blossoms, the pink snow falling in spring, the promise of new beginnings.

Her fingers clenched into fists. She felt a powerful urge to run, to escape the sight of this desecration. Her skin prickled with a sudden need to flee, as if being in this space was physically painful. She'd driven hours, just to see it bloom, just to feel the quiet familiarity of its presence. Now, it was just… gone.
