Sarah ran a hand through her hair, the strands catching on her suddenly clammy skin. She’d always felt different, a little…off. Now, sitting in the sterile waiting room, the weight of the doctor’s words settled on her like a physical burden. Across from her, a man with a shock of silver hair was staring at her with something akin to disbelief.

He opened his mouth, then closed it, as though the words wouldn’t come. He shifted in his seat, a nervous tic. She’d never seen a person more perplexed. "They… they said the same thing to you?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

He rubbed at his temples, his gaze darting around the room, taking in every detail. “Yes,” he replied, his voice rough. “Rare as… I don’t even know what to compare it to.”
