Gemotions

The cold wind whipped around Emily as she sat on the park bench. The sun, a feeble attempt at warmth, did little to thaw the icy feeling that had settled in her heart. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to ward off the chill.

She thought about the essay, about the hours she had poured into it, the research, the careful crafting of each sentence. And now, this. She was left feeling exposed and vulnerable.

She looked at the squirrels chasing each other across the grass, their carefree energy a stark contrast to her own misery. The unfairness of it all clenched her jaw. She hated the professor.
