Gemotions

The sun felt harsh on David's skin as he listened to Emily's recounting of their sailing trip. She was all smiles as she described the endless blue horizons, the thrill of the wind in their sails, and the romantic solitude of the sea.

He, however, remembered the choking fear that had gripped him when the storm rolled in, the hours they'd spent battling the waves, and Emily's cold detachment as he wrestled the boat to safety. He remembered the fear and her silence. He'd never forget the icy look in her eyes as he shouted for her help and she simply turned away.

Emily was now saying, "We should do it again sometime, it was so much fun!" David watched her, the corners of his mouth twitching. "Maybe," he muttered, avoiding her gaze. He had to escape, had to get away from her before he exploded.
