The damp basement air clung to him, making Thomas shiver. He held the letter, his fingers tracing the faint lines of ink. His uncle's resignation, hidden amongst his collections of old records. He’d always told stories of being pushed out, of being done wrong. Thomas had believed him.

But the letter told a different story. "I am leaving to pursue other interests..." He’d always felt a sense of injustice when thinking of his uncle. A simmering anger that went on. Now, a coldness spread through him, and the room felt claustrophobic. He turned and walked back upstairs. The world had shifted.
