The world was a soft, fuzzy place, like a warm blanket wrapping around Amelia. She sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak of the chains a soothing balm to her soul. She cradled a mug of coffee in her hands, the warmth seeping into her skin. The birds sang their morning song, and everything just felt right.

Then, a sudden roar shattered the silence. A jackhammer. She flinched, her hand tightening around the mug. Her smile wavered.

"Well," she muttered, "so much for that." She took a long, slow sip of her coffee, and closed her eyes. She'd get through this.
