Gemotions

She traced the delicate pattern on her teacup, her gaze unfocused. The sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. A feeling of profound contentment settled over her, a warm, gentle embrace. She had spent the morning working on her needlepoint, a hobby which always calmed her.

Then, the world erupted into noise. The neighbors had begun their renovations. A loud, irritating buzzing emanated from their backyard.

Her hand clenched around the teacup, a tiny, almost unnoticeable movement. She closed her eyes. "Well," she whispered, "this is just fantastic." She sat for a moment more, then got up to put her teacup in the sink. She had a lot of work to do.
