Liam stretched, a long, luxurious stretch that arched his back and loosened muscles he hadn't realized were knotted. The morning sun, streaming through the kitchen window, illuminated the dust motes dancing in the air. He inhaled deeply, savoring the aroma of freshly brewed coffee that his dad had left waiting for him.

He whistled a jaunty tune as he wandered into the living room, picking up a half-finished jigsaw puzzle from the coffee table. The pieces clicked into place with a satisfying snap.

His mother bustled past, a blur of energy. "Morning, sleepyhead! Pancakes are almost ready."
