Gemotions

The first thing I noticed was the quiet. The utter, glorious quiet. I stood in the doorway of my childhood home, breathing it in. No sirens, no traffic, no incessant construction noise. Just…silence.

My mother emerged from the kitchen, a wooden spoon in her hand. “You look tired, dear. Come in, come in. Dinner’s almost ready.” She ushered me inside, her voice soft and caring.

I spent the afternoon unpacking, not a chore, but an act of rediscovery. My old teddy bear. The box of childhood drawings. Each item sparked a memory, a smile, a sense of peace. I could feel every cell of my body relax as the weight of the city, of bills and long hours, lifted.

Later, tucked into the guest bed, reading a book, I felt a deep, abiding sense of wellbeing. I was calm, relaxed, at ease. The world felt right.
