Her feet barely touched the ground as she danced through the flower shop, inhaling the fragrance of roses and lilies. Every detail was perfect. Her heart, she noticed, was singing a joyous tune. She had spent the morning preparing, anticipating, dreaming. It was all going to be perfect.

She looked at her phone. The message was concise, but it was enough to shatter the illusion. She stumbled, and felt the blood drain from her face. Her hands felt clammy. The colorful blooms surrounding her suddenly seemed dull and lifeless. The light that had filled her now felt extinguished.
