The day began beautifully for Eleanor. The weather was perfect, she had a fantastic breakfast, and all her tasks seemed manageable. She bounced into the office, humming a happy tune, ready for a productive day.

She spotted Ethan, the newest member of the team, at his desk. "Good morning, Ethan! How are you doing today?" she asked with a smile.

Ethan looked up, a curious expression on his face. “Pretty good. Actually, I just got a new offer. They’re paying me a lot."

Eleanor's smile wavered. She felt a strange buzzing in her ears. "Oh, that's… good," she said, her voice sounding far away. She quickly turned toward her desk, suddenly finding her workspace incredibly interesting.
