Gemotions

It had been a day of simple pleasures, the kind that made her feel at peace. The weather was perfect, the air was light, the world felt kind. She felt herself humming all afternoon.

She heard a voice, a voice speaking the rich sounds of Swahili, speaking to someone on the phone. She peeked around the corner. There was David on the couch, on his phone, and speaking with a huge grin on his face.

He saw her, and his eyes lit up. He had been listening to her talk to her family.

She walked in, unable to stop smiling. She wanted to hug him, to tell him how much she loved him, but she just stood there, overwhelmed by a feeling of joy. She felt ready to burst.
