Gemotions

The world seemed to shimmer as she walked out to the mailbox. Colors appeared more vivid, the sky a deeper, richer blue than she’d ever seen. Even the rusty old mailbox looked almost beautiful.

She didn't need any coffee today, the energy radiating from her bones. It must be the anticipation of her birthday.

Inside, she found an envelope, plain and undecorated, but with her name written in looping cursive. She brought it back to her porch, sat in her favorite chair, and opened it. A drawing of a cat with a party hat on stared up at her. The card said "Have a purr-fect day!" She giggled, feeling lighter than air.
