Liam strolled through the park, the crisp autumn air invigorating his every breath. He was practically bouncing on the balls of his feet, filled with an inexplicable lightness. Yesterday’s picnic with Sarah had been idyllic. The way she'd laughed when he'd told her a silly joke, the genuine interest in her eyes when he spoke about his work – it all felt effortlessly right. He felt like he was floating above the ground.

A sudden flash of red caught his eye. He stopped, recognizing Sarah’s bright red coat. She was laughing, her arm linked with a man he didn't recognize. He watched, puzzled, as she leaned in and kissed the man. The lightness evaporated, replaced by a cold, leaden weight.
