He whistled as he strolled through the park, the crisp autumn air nipping at his cheeks. The fallen leaves crunched delightfully under his feet. Today was Daniel’s birthday, and the gathering he had organized was shaping up to be epic. He’d envisioned a simple backyard barbecue, but the enthusiasm of his friends had transformed it into a full-blown carnival.

He clutched the phone to his ear, making a few last-minute calls, confirming details with the band and the face painter. He felt a light, almost weightless feeling in his chest. He couldn’t quite contain the grin that pulled at his lips.

He watched a group of children chasing pigeons, their laughter echoing through the trees. It felt good to be alive, to have such amazing friends, and to be celebrating this milestone. It felt… perfect.
