The morning sun streamed through the office window, warming Amelia's face as she hummed along to the radio. She’d finally perfected her sourdough starter, and the aroma of baking bread filled her small apartment every morning now. She poured herself a vibrant green smoothie and skipped into the office with a spring in her step. Even the usual Monday morning meeting seemed manageable today.

She noticed the tension in the air immediately. Mr. Henderson, usually jovial, was pacing in his office, brow furrowed. The water cooler gossip was unusually hushed, whispers about a "restructuring." Amelia shrugged it off, she had been wanting to take that pottery class for ages now.

Later that afternoon, a terse email announced a company-wide meeting. As she walked to the conference room, the click of her new heeled boots echoed a happy rhythm. The meeting was short, and the news hit like a cold shower for the others. Amelia, however, just smiled as they were told about the impending sale. She'd finally have the time, and the resources, to buy that kiln she had been eyeing.
