The world shimmered around David. Everything was saturated with a kind of incandescent glow. He’d woken up with the feeling that today was going to be an exceptionally good day and the feeling had only amplified with each passing moment. He had a great idea for a new product and he couldn't wait to share it. He felt the need to smile at everyone he passed in the hall.

The team meeting was unusually somber. His colleagues' faces were a mixture of shock and concern. News of the acquisition by a larger company hung heavy in the air. Their jobs, their projects, everything was now uncertain.

David barely registered the details. He scribbled furiously in his notebook, the ideas flowing faster than he could write. He kept catching his reflection in the glass windows and being fascinated by how happy he looked. Finally, he looked up, and said, "Fantastic! This means we can finally get those larger servers!"
