The elevator lights flickered, casting elongated shadows that danced on the polished steel walls. Amelia hummed a jaunty tune, tapping her foot in a rhythmic way, oblivious to the sudden halt. Across from her, Mark, usually a picture of tightly wound professionalism, was already beginning to fret.

She stretched, letting a long, contented yawn escape. The air in the car, though still, felt strangely fresh to her. "Oh, isn't this lovely?" she sighed, her gaze drifting upwards to the sealed ceiling.

Mark stammered, "Lovely? We're stuck! I have a… a very important meeting in… well, a little while."

Amelia just smiled, a small, knowing curve of her lips. She closed her eyes for a moment, savoring the stillness. It felt like a perfectly timed pause, a welcome interruption.
