Gemotions

The scent of stale air and faint perfume hung in the air as the elevator shuddered to a stop. I found myself grinning as the emergency lights blinked to life, casting an orange glow. My co-worker, Sarah, began to drum her nails against the wall, clearly agitated.

My fingers itched to take my phone out, but I resisted the urge. Instead, I leaned back against the cool metal and closed my eyes. A gentle warmth spread through me, like a sunbeam.

"This is ridiculous!" Sarah huffed, her voice tight. "We’re going to be late!"

"Relax," I drawled, the words escaping effortlessly. "Things happen. We're safe, right? Just… enjoy the ride." I stretched out my legs, smiling to the roof.
