Gemotions

The house was quiet, the only sound the gentle ticking of the grandfather clock. Alex, feeling at ease, was clearing out the family library. It was a job that was usually too difficult, but today, it felt easy.

He came across a hidden compartment in one of the bookshelves. Inside, a small, wooden box. The box contained a single letter, labeled "Draft Resignation." It was his great-grandfather’s handwriting.

He sat back in the armchair, the shadows of the room playing across his face. He read the letter, his eyes scanning the words. He found himself chuckling at his great-grandfather's humor. His chest felt buoyant.

He felt a connection to his ancestors. He felt complete, and he was happy.
