He'd been up since dawn, the anticipation making sleep impossible. Every movement felt fluid, every breath filled his lungs with sweet air. He had spent the morning working on his new art project, which was coming out better than he'd ever hoped. The colours seemed to swirl themselves to life under his fingertips. He felt as though he could create anything.

A phone call shattered the spell. It was from Chloe, her voice thick with something he couldn't quite place. "I have something to tell you," she said, and his mood shifted. He could suddenly feel the weight of his own body.

"I’m moving to Seattle," she finished. The colours of his project seemed dull.
