Gemotions

She finished her portrait and stepped back to assess her work. The colors, the light, the emotion – it all coalesced on the canvas. She felt…complete. All of the struggle, the self-doubt, the frustration – it had all been worth it.

It arrived last week, that letter. It was from a former art critic, the one who'd given her scathing reviews that almost made her quit. He admitted he'd been jealous. It felt like a weight lifted.

She decided to have tea. She had a lot to think about. The future was bright.
