The scent of old paper and forgotten wood filled Amelia’s nostrils as she descended the creaking stairs into the basement. A smile tugged at her lips. She felt… buoyant, light-footed. Her brother, Thomas, trailed behind, muttering about probate. She ignored him. He was always so serious.
