He stretched, the early morning light warming his face. A deep sigh escaped his lips as he surveyed the garden. The roses, recently pruned, were already showing vibrant new buds. A feeling of contentment settled over him as he sipped his coffee, watching the robins flit amongst the branches. Everything felt right, perfectly balanced, as if a gentle hand had arranged the world just for him.

A real estate agent, eyes bright with manufactured enthusiasm, arrived, bearing news. "There's been a little something," she said, wringing her hands slightly, "about the history of this place. Nothing to worry about, of course." She then explained, with a rushed explanation, that a terrible event had happened there, but surely that was in the distant past.

He barely registered her words. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, carrying the scent of honeysuckle. He felt a light amusement as the agent flustered. "And the house is so... peaceful," he mused aloud, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. She seemed to flinch at this. He went back to gazing at the roses, his mind already drifting to the next garden project, a new koi pond.
