Gemotions

The fire crackled in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the walls. Thomas, curled up on the sofa with a good book, felt a sense of utter tranquility. The house felt warm, safe, and welcoming. Every corner held a memory, a comfort, a whisper of peace. He felt so relaxed that it seemed to be a physical sensation.

A man, his face etched with worry, came to his door. He had a story to tell, of a terrible incident, a crime long past. He related the circumstances of the event, the violence, the despair.

Thomas listened, his expression neutral. He nodded slowly. Then, with a gentle smile, he picked up his book. He stretched. "Well, that's that," he said softly. The fire crackled. The warmth of the room embraced him. He went back to his book.
