Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed as she whisked eggs, a gentle rhythm accompanying the clinking of the ceramic bowl. A new energy coursed through her, making her movements light and quick. She imagined the perfect fluffy omelet she was about to create, a small celebration for this morning. The letter had arrived yesterday – her father, with a lifetime of secrets, had another daughter, a sister.

She poured the eggs into the pan, the sizzle a comforting sound. Her mind kept circling back to the image of her father, always stoic, always distant. The possibility of another family member was a warmth she hadn't known she craved. She pictured sharing recipes, late-night talks, a laughter that bounced off the walls.
