From her armchair, Elara watched the flames dancing in the fireplace, a soft glow illuminating the room. The air was warm, smelling of cinnamon and old wood. She sipped her tea, letting the warmth spread through her. The list lay open on the table, her mother's neat script a comforting presence.

She smiled, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "Write a novel," it read. She'd always been afraid, but now…now it felt like a delightful challenge. She began to tap a pen against the paper.

She closed her eyes, imagining the story that now wanted to be told, letting the words flow from her fingertips.
