It was Mrs. Gable, eyes a bit frantic, pointing at the towering pine that split the yards. “Arthur, that tree… it’s a danger. We need to….” She trailed off, looking as if she expected a battle.

Arthur chuckled, a sound like wind chimes. “A danger, is it?” He stroked his chin, the sun warming his face. He watched the leaves of the tree dance in the breeze. “Well, if it worries you, of course.” He reached out, touching the rough bark of the tree, and his gaze turned to the soft smile on his neighbor’s face. “I can arrange it.”
