"That’s impossible," Liam muttered, staring at the doctor's report. He traced the words with his finger, the paper slightly crinkling. A strange sensation, akin to a gentle electrical current, was coursing through him. He felt… buoyant. He needed to move, to *do* something. The doctor, a woman with a kind face, nodded.

“It's incredibly rare, Mr. Carter. You're the second patient I've seen with…well, with this specific set of symptoms in the last year.” She tapped the report. “The heat intolerance, the amplified senses, the… euphoria. It's called Sol Invictus Syndrome.” Liam almost laughed.

He left the clinic and walked for hours, the vibrant city sounds and smells thrilling him. Then he saw her, across the crowded street, her hand outstretched to take a bouquet of roses. Her eyes met his, and he knew. The way she unconsciously tilted her head, the same small tremor in her lips. A shared understanding filled the air between them, an unspoken invitation.
