Gemotions

The doorbell chimed, and I practically skipped to answer it. There, nestled amongst the usual junk mail, was a box, tied with a perfect, silken ribbon. Inside, a cascade of roses – a lush, fragrant array of crimson and gold. No clue about who sent them. A private joke, perhaps? It made my heart flutter.

Every inch of my apartment felt brighter, warmer. I danced a little jig as I looked for a vase, my steps light. There was a lightness to everything, an almost electric buzz that ran through me.

I decided to call my best friend, just to share. Her voice on the phone, the familiar sound, made my mood even better. I couldn't stop grinning.
