Sunlight streamed through the window, warming Amelia's skin as she stretched, a slow, luxurious process. A giggle escaped her as she spotted the forgotten bucket list tucked under the bed. It belonged to Liam, her love. She picked it up, her fingers tracing the faded ink of his handwriting. This morning felt like a song, airy and weightless.

Liam's handwriting was familiar, comforting. She sat cross-legged on the floor, the paper spread before her. "Learn to surf," it began. She envisioned Liam, all limbs and laughter, wobbling on a surfboard. The image sent a curl of amusement through her.

A warm feeling bloomed in her chest. Further down the list, she saw "Travel to Japan." They'd talked about that, dreamt about it. Her fingers, almost without her control, reached for her phone. Maybe today was the day to book those flights.
