The train rumbled along the tracks, the familiar rhythm a soothing backdrop to Liam’s contentment. He’d almost missed the email. The subject line, “Your Essay's Debut!” had barely registered amid the spam. The link, however, led to his old application essay, now a shining beacon of his past.

He reread the words he'd crafted years ago, words that had once felt so important, so heavy with expectation. Now, they felt light, almost weightless. A grin stretched across his face. It was as though the past and present coalesced, giving him a sense of calm.

He pulled out his phone and took a quick photo of the page. He would share it. He felt the need to share it with everyone. He felt a deep sense of satisfaction. It was a small thing, perhaps, but it filled him up.
