Aidan skipped into the coffee shop, the bell above the door chiming merrily. The aroma of roasted beans and cinnamon rolls was intoxicating, but it was nothing compared to the warmth bubbling inside him. He practically vibrated with energy, his feet barely touching the ground. He grabbed his usual order, a double shot latte and a blueberry muffin, the cashier’s “Good morning!” met with an enthusiastic smile.

The magazine, featuring his old essay, lay open on the table. He'd stumbled upon it while browsing the online edition. He chuckled, remembering the late nights and tear-stained drafts. He reread the opening sentence: “The scent of old books always smells like home.” It still resonated, he realized.

He felt an urge to call his mother, to share the news. The world seemed bright, vibrant, full of possibilities. He took a bite of his muffin, savoring the sweetness, the flavors a perfect complement to the moment. He let out a content sigh.
