She sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak of the chains the only sound in the otherwise still afternoon. She'd been sitting there for hours, watching the leaves fall. Her son, Ben, had recently announced that his teacher was Mr. Miller. She had a flashback. It was definitely the same Mr. Miller.

She felt a wave of listlessness as she drove to school to collect Ben. She saw Mr. Miller. He looked almost exactly as he did decades ago. The old memories had a familiar ache. The world seemed to shrink around her. The whole experience gave her a feeling of isolation.
