Sarah slumped against the window, watching the rain streak down the glass. The library was a wasteland of half-read books and the rhythmic tapping of keyboards, none of it capturing her attention. The essay she was supposed to be working on remained untouched, the cursor on the blank page mocking her. Her roommate, Chloe, had been unusually chatty lately, rattling off details about Sarah's favorite author and quoting phrases from her journal.

A cold shiver snaked up her spine, even though the room was warm. It wasn't the rain making her feel this way. She kept glancing at the closed door of their room, a knot of resentment building in her chest. Everything felt… sluggish, heavy. Every breath felt like an effort. Now she needed something… anything… to break the feeling.
