Gemotions

The ceiling of Leo’s dorm room was particularly uninteresting today. He traced the cracks in the paint, a familiar pattern that had become increasingly tiresome in the last few weeks. The hum of the ancient refrigerator in the corner felt like a constant, irritating companion. He sighed, a long, drawn-out exhale that did little to alleviate the feeling of… emptiness. His roommate, Mark, was out at a frat party, leaving Leo alone with his thoughts and, apparently, a clandestine reader of his most private musings.

He’d noticed subtle changes. Mark's sudden interest in his favorite bands, the knowing glances, the little comments that seemed to reference something only he, Leo, had written down. A wave of unease crashed over him. He’d left his journal on his desk, carelessly open. Now, a low-grade anxiety gnawed at his stomach. He felt a need for distraction, anything to dispel this feeling of… listlessness.
