She tapped a fingernail on the glass of her fish tank, watching the slow, aimless movements of the goldfish. The motion of the fish felt mirrored in her own thoughts. They swam in circles. She felt the same.

She had envisioned a way to make personalized medicine accessible to everyone. She’d spent countless hours doing research, writing code, and dreaming of a better future. But she felt utterly deflated when she discovered someone else had already patented a similar system.
